Presentation Guidelines

General Poster Guidelines:

  • When planning a poster presentation, it is useful to keep in mind the advantages of a poster over an oral presentation. Posters are available for viewing throughout the meeting as well as during the specific poster sessions.
  • The title of your paper, the authors and their affiliation should appear clearly at the top of your poster.
  • It is important that you remember that the audience viewing your poster and discussing it with you will be 1-2 metres from your poster. Please double-check your poster for suitable visibility.
  • Use text sparingly. Use pictures, cartoons, and figures rather than text wherever possible. Bright colours will greatly enhance the attention of the viewer.
  • The flow of your poster should be from the top left to the bottom right.

Preparing, Setting Up, and Taking Down Posters

  • The poster board will allow an A0 sized poster orientated in Portrait. If it is easier (for travel reasons), you are welcome to use two A1 posters in Landscape to fit into the space.  Please consider using appropriate font sizes and figures for ease of reading.
  • Please do NOT simply print out your paper and place it on the poster board.
  • If your poster is accepted for Tuesday, it is expected to set up on your poster board on Tuesday morning (preferably during registration) and it must be taken down at mid-day on Wednesday.
  • If your poster is accepted for Thursday, it is expected to set up on your poster board at the mid-day on Wednesday and it must be taken down at the end of Thursday.
  • The poster boards will be assigned numbers corresponding to your poster number in the program. So please put your poster on your assigned board.
